My 48th birthday in Koh Phangan – Thailand Paradise
My 48th birthday was a revelation to me, and it was an effort to I realized how fortunate she was to be alive. Michele and I had been in Thailand for two months, and after the commercial opening in the center of the dirty, disgusting engines prostitute called Pattaya tourism ourselves gradually moved south seeking beautiful real heart of Thailand.
Then stopped in Hua Hin, which is home to the King of Thailand, and a very beautiful place, too. We stayed a few days. The beach was very fine sand. We could see the kind of visitors which were very expensive in the major hotels along the (very beautiful) to the beach, restaurants and entertainment along the beach and the town was very welcoming after fifth-class facilities that were used to Pattaya.
We left our luggage there while we went further south, to renew the visa in Malaysia, but to be honest we would return to stay in Hua Hin at the end. I do not remember I did not speak, but I think it was a very old American in a railway station in Malaysia, and he said that the Koh Phangan island, near the resort of Koh Samui. The did so heavenly, I immediately Michele said we had to look there first before deciding what was the best place to stay in the long run.
He just stood in Kuala Lumpa for a few days. We were in a top end hotel (paying peanuts), but the lifestyle and the huge gap between rich and poor have little interest to us, then returned to Thailand and Koh Phangan in particular.
We were not disappointed. It was beautiful. I spent several hours on the Internet in Malaysia, do some research and decided a place called "Rainbow" because I liked the photo, prices were good and was directed by a guy from Australia with a Thai woman.
We We own a beach hut, and two weeks later was my birthday! We met some people who were long-term holiday the rainbow, and when it was my birthday, we had a small group of friends who wanted going to celebrate with us.
There was a young American boy named Liam. It was actually in the spiritual side of Thailand, massage classes and had a spiritual guru local. Then there Lasse, a Swedish guitarist, who has tried to reach Koh Phangnan each year. Ron was a Canadian who was also his first visit, and seemed to be going through a small depression, probably because they knew that soon would return. These three, besides me and began to Michele in the festivities of the night.
The Rainbow Bar was literally from the sea, and sat there during the day, while my work online. I could not wait to see better while working in the office. So, about four hours, I put my computer away and we all gathered around the table.
I took my bottle of Absolut, which was kind of Miguel I wondered if one of my gifts, and we had a little toast in my 48 years, accompanied by the owner of "Aussie, Martin, and is irrigated with a cold beer. Then all we had on our bikes and headed to the main town of Tong Hall, where the ferry had been started when we arrived and we are a popular seafood bar beachside.
The food was good, and we put the world on his back while hitting a couple of beers. I had a pizza as I am vegetarian, but the others had fished together (including Michele), so it shares some great local seafood dish.
We have all been nicely warmed up for that, and I was dying wait to introduce this little bar I heard of what has been done for pure floating wood. It was still early enough that we were the only ones there. Is fascinating, with deposits and fishing nets spread on the bar, which was literally Driftwood! There were fish in ponds in the bathroom, and Michele, and I sat in fishing nets that have been transformed into a hammock-like seats.
We started with the tequila, then each of us had to choose a shot from the bar before we moved to the next location. We have visions "Bar Street" and our next task was to find a pool table for some games. We were joined by a English couple we had been introduced by a friend in Spain. I won every game (or let me win because it was my birthday!) Until Ron did well in the last party and threw me.
For there, now we were in a decidedly lively atmosphere and the bar closed at 11 pm, so we thought it prudent to do so, mopeds a little closer to home before enjoying too.
About a mile from the Rainbow has started raining, and I mean when I say rain rain! if have learned from one of the tourist bars on the side of the road. The girls were very friendly and we all had beers and discussed with the beautiful Thai "girls good time "because it keeps the beer coming ..
We told them it was my birthday and the whole bar joined in a chorus of "Happy Birthday" to me, that was nice! One of the girls had taken a liking to Liam, who was defending her off as politely as possible, but when you put together a set very important to us, it has become much more comfortable with it.
Michele and I could not resist a couple of "Singing in the Rain" as entered and out of the rain and puddles, and I knew it would not be a birthday, I was going to forget soon!
The evening continued, and suddenly it was my birthday more (not in Thailand). The rain stopped, and the bar seemed to be finished at night, so back up and loaded our way back to the Rainbow.
Although the bar was closed (as was approximately 3 hours. ") We all gathered around the table. I left the rest of Absolut vodka and got his Larrson Out guitar. It was very good (well it was a professional of the songs) and most of his repertoire were English, so we sang and talked about a couple of hours with the sound waves in the background as the tide came in, took early every morning.
Gradually, Liam and Ron staggering under their huts, and the rest of us did not last much longer, but does not want this night, brightness, and approached my hammock outside our cabin, while Michael went to bed. I was listening to the waves and watch the fishing boats leaving early, and wanted each anniversary could be!
